Malpelo

Delicate, Red fruits and spices.

The name Malpelo was inspired by the protagonist of Giovanni Verga’s 1880 novel of the same name.

The history and origin of this grape variety are intertwined with those of the Nerelli and Calabresi varieties. It has been known as Nero d’Avola in Sicily since immemorial, highlighting its significance. Although it was traditionally used for blending, it has gained recognition in recent decades as a quality wine in its own right.

Our wine is an exceptional drink with a bold and powerful taste that showcases a deep ruby red hue, vibrant violet undertones when young, and a deep garnet hue after ageing.

The complex aroma is characterized by a perfect blend of red fruits and spices, with a strong scent of red berries, cherries, and prunes. The wine is incredibly potent, yet it maintains a smooth texture and a velvety mouthfeel, with fruity and spicy flavours that include pepper. The satisfying finish is long-lasting, leaving you with a desire to experience it again.
